Voted #1 Day Ski Resort by Ski Magazine 11 years in a row

Looking for the best winter resort in the Midwest?
You’ve found it. Now in our 49th season, Nub’s Nob is ready to treat you and your family and friends to a season of excitement and quality winter fun.

What makes Nub’s Nob so special? Is it the friendly staff eager to make your visit memorable? Is it the best snow groomed by the finest equipment and crew found in the Midwest? How about the tasty soups that warm you between runs? Along with creating great memories, we want Nub’s Nob to be your "home away from home" when you visit.

The bottom line is that at Nub’s Nob, we concentrate on your skiing and snowboarding. For 3 straight years, the readers of SKI Magazine voted Nub’s Nob the number one resort in the Midwest. Why? They know we offer the best grooming, the top snowmaking crew and system in the Midwest, fresh homemade food everybody loves, an unequaled variety of slopes and trails with a lift system for every ability and age, and a smile. From the moment we greet you until you’ve headed back home, there’s always a friendly Nub’s Nob face to make your day on the “Midwest’s Best Snow” one you’ll never forget.

Some of the new things this year at Nub’s Nob include:
- Two new expert-only gladed tree skiing areas with "hike in only" access featuring natural terrain and Mother Nature’s finest snow
- Whitefish Run on Pintail Peak has been widened with a new permanent line of snowguns on the north side, allowing this area to open earlier and opening up more of the stunning views of Little Traverse Bay.

Now in its 3rd year, Michigan’s first Superpipe will thrill snowboarders and freeriders in our ever-growing terrain park. More snow and top quality rentals ensure a long season of fun!

So whether you enjoyed opening day 49 snowy years ago or are making your first visit to Nub’s Nob, we’re here for you. "First Class and Friendly Skiing and Snowboarding" isn’t just a slogan; it’s our way of life. We’ll see you this season on the "Midwest’s Best Snow" at Nub’s Nob.

Accolades for Nub’s:
"Nub’s Nob has a fanatical passion for making and grooming snow and the attitude that everyone should be treated like a local." - Ski Magazine

For 11 years in a row, Nub’s Nob was voted the number one day ski resort by the readers of SKI Magazine. Other distinctions include:
- The only Midwest resort ever to capture 2 gold medals as one of North America’s top resorts in grooming and family value
- Recognition in magazines as the best Midwestern area in grooming, family, snowmaking, lifts, service, food, and value (with special emphasis on “honest” snow reporting and "superb" cafeteria).
- The only Midwest resort to have ranked in the top 10 resorts in North America in any category. Nub’s ranked 6th best in grooming against every resort in the U.S. and Canada.
- And again for 2005, The Detroit News ranked us as Michigan’s Best ski resort

To all our skiers and snowboarders, thanks for making us your number one choice, year after year!

Midwest’s Best Snow
Let’s face it. We have a reputation to uphold and our snow crew loves the challenge! Nub’s Nob is still the ONLY Midwest resort EVER rated in the top 10 in North America for grooming. All of the "Midwest’s Best Snow" is carefully groomed by our fleet of Pisten Bully grooming machines manned by the most decorated and experienced staff in the Midwest. This year, 242 patented Nub’s Nob snow guns will be running, guaranteeing as long a season as Mother Nature allows.

"Our family has grown to prefer Nub’s above all other resorts. From getting on the lifts to signing up for the NASTAR races, staffers go the extra mile for skiers." - Sarah Post, Bloomfield Hills

  2. People ahead have the right of way
  3. Stop in a safe place for you and others
  4. When starting downhill or merging, look uphill and yield
  5. Use devices to prevent runaway equipment
  6. Observe signs and warnings and keep off closed trails
  7. Know how to use the lifts safely

Please note: Skiers and riders should be advised that a green circle, blue square, or black diamond trail at Nub’s Nob is not necessarily the same as a similarly rated trail at another ski area. Our trail marking system is a relative system that is valid only at Nub’s Nob. Skiers and riders should work their way up, beginning with the easiest trail no matter what your ability level may be, until you are familiar with the trails at the area.

Your Responsibility Code: Nub’s Nob is committed to promoting slope safety. In addition to those using traditional alpine ski equipment, others on the slopes include snowboarders, telemark skiers or cross-country skiers, skiers with disabilities, skiers with specialized equipment and others. Always show courtesy to others and be aware that there are elements of risk in skiing and snowboarding that common sense and personal awareness can help reduce. Know your ability level and stay within it. Observe You Responsibility Code listed right and share with others on the slopes the responsibility for a great snowsports experience.

Freestyle Terrain Areas
Freestyle Terrain Areas are designated with an orange oval and may contain jumps, hits, ramps, banks, fun boxes, jibs, rails, half pipes, quarter pipes, snowcross, bump terrain and other constructed or natural terrain features. Prior to using Freestyle Terrain, you are responsible for familiarizing yourself with the Nub’s Nob Freestyle Terrain and obeying all instructions, warnings and signs. Freestyle skills require maintaining control on the ground, and in the air. Use of Freestyle Terrain exposes you to the risk of serious injury or death. Inverted aerials are not allowed. You assume the risk.

Freestyle Terrain has designations for size. Start small and work your way up. Designations are relative to Nub’s Nob. -Small features - Medium Features - Larger Features

Look before you leap - You are responsible for inspecting Freestyle Terrain before initial use and throughout the day. The features vary in size and change constantly due to snow conditions, weather, usage, grooming, and time of day. Do not jump blindly. Use a spotter when necessary.

Easy Style It - Always ride or ski in control and within your ability level. Do not attempt Freestyle Terrain unless you have sufficient ability and experience to do so safely. You control the degree of difficulty you will encounter in using Freestyle Terrain, both on the ground and in the air.

Respect Gets Respect - Respect Freestyle Terrain and others. Only one person on a feature at a time. Wait your turn and call your start. Always clear the landing area quickly. Respect all signs and do not enter Freestyle Terrain or use features when closed.
