All Two Hearted Canoe Trips start from the Rainbow Lodge located on Luce County Road 423 at the mouth of the Two Hearted River. The trips range from a few hours to three days or more.

The Two Hearted River immortalized by Ernest Hemingway for its beauty and wilderness is unmatched by most other rivers which you may have canoed before. Your trip will take you through the heart of the wilderness of northern Luce County, where the wildlife and beauty are there to meet you around every bend. So bring your lunch and forget your troubles and come for fun and a wilderness-experienced afternoon filled with many unforgettable pleasures.

The One Day canoe trip starts at the RAINBOW LODGE where you are driven to the Reed & Green Bridge (20 minute drive). There you are launched. This trip can be handled by almost anyone, but from time to time there may be some small portages over or around fallen trees. The average time for this trip is 4 to 6 hours.

After a pleasurable trip which you will not soon forget, you end up at the river mouth campground boat launch. The Lodge is just a short walk up the hill on the road. So for fun in the sun that the whole family can enjoy bring your lunch and canoe the Two Hearted River. See for yourself why so many of our customers come back again and again.

For a Two or Three Day canoe trip you are taken up to the High Bridge Campground (40 minute ride). There you are launched. You can stop at the Lone Pine campground and the Reed & Green campground. There are a dozen log jams with two or three portages around them up to a couple hundred feet. This stretch of the river is for more experienced canoeists and campers. This trip also ends at the rivermouth campground.

We feature Old Town canoes (15’8’’ & 16’9’’ Discoveries). We also have Pram and V-bottom boats for rent to fishermen. We have complete spotting service on all of the Big Two Hearted River at RAINBOW LODGE.

The summer schedule trips start going out from 8:30 a.m., time of departure from the Lodge. Cut off time varies, please call ahead. For the most enjoyment, a morning or early afternoon departure time is recommended. Earlier departures or alternate link trips my be available but advance reservations are required. We also have a 1 1/2 -hour float trip of about 3 miles.

RAINBOW LODGE has a well stocked store with groceries, beer, wine, package liquor take-out, ice, camping supplies, fishing tackle, bait, licenses and bottle gas, motor home fill, and gasoline. RAINBOW LODGE has 6 motel rooms (4 of which have kitchenettes), 3 cabins and a large house-trailer. In addition to 48 campsites at the state forest campground at the rivermouth, we have a 45-site private primitive campground located next to a small grass airstrip and bike trail. RAINBOW LODGE is open all year round. RAINBOW LODGE is also your Old Town canoe dealer.
