Boaters/Personal Watercraft
Please operate your craft safely and remember these boating laws:

- Boaters shall maintain a distance of 100’ from any dock, raft, buoy, or occupied bathing area or shall not cross within 150’ behind another vessel.
- Observe a maximum speed limit of 55mph.
- The owner of any vessel is personally responsible for damage or injury caused by their wake.
- In congested areas, please maintain low wake.
- Respect Wildlife

Snowmobilers
Trails are open from December 1 to March 31. Many trails run on private property: Please stay on the trails. Use common sense. Dispose of litter properly. Without the cooperation of these property owners, the trail system would not be possible. Watch for cross country skiers who also use these trails.

Safety of channel ice can vary greatly from day to day. Check local ice conditions before riding on Les Cheneaux waters.

Snowmobiles may be operated on all unplowed Mackinac County roads and to the far right of plowed county roads. Local speed limits must be obeyed. Snowmobiles may be operated on the unplowed portion of state highways.

- Salmon and other trout (Great Lakes): Open all year

One of the World’s Last Great Places
The Les Cheneaux Area is at the very heart of one of the natural "wonders of the world." In 1993, the northern shore of Lake Huron was designated a "Last Great Place" by The Nature Conservancy, a world leader in natural lands conservation. It and Michigan’s Little Traverse Conservancy share a goal with all of us of preserving these natural wonders - the Great Lakes marshes, our coastal waters and nearshore lands, the watershed itself and all of its native plants and animals.
